1979 GMC Street Coupe... Maybe
Grabbed this ol' gal today and drug her home. I believe it's a 1979 GMC Street Coupe. The SPID was missing, but all the parts lead me to believe it's legit. Still waiting to hear back from GM Heritage on a build sheet.
It's got the painted bumpers with impact strips, the special grille, red carpet, and one sport mirror was also left in the interior. The doors and fenders were replaced at some point in it's life, and the rest of the truck had a repaint at some point as well, but the new painter wasn't too good, so they left some of the original 5 side stripes inside the door jams and painted over them. It's missing a few parts here and there, but the frame is solid and there are plenty of good parts left, so I think it'll be worth a rebuild either way. 350/350 combo, trans looks good, but the engine definitely has some water in it where someone had yanked the dang dristributor and must have left the hood up. I'll get some more pictures soon and update as I find out info. On a side note, I started a "GMC Street Coupe" group on Facebook if anyone is interested. There seems to be so few of these trucks left, I thought it might be good to have a source of info for them. ![]() ![]()
