Expansion Valve Tacky Tape

I purchased some Tacky Tape from Old Air Product. My AC is working correctly and not over heating the tubing. It runs at correct temperature. Does this tape require a catalyst after installation? I took about a 50 mile run today doing some ECU tuning and upon return noticed an odor in the garage after a few minutes. I opened the hood to this. Any ideas? The previous factory material never did this.
