New to this section: '56 GMC Carport Find
The Arizona version of a "barn find" is a Carport Find, because homes built in the 60s-70s didn't have garages. I found this '56 100 series Long Bed with the Big Back Window in the Prescott Antique Auto Club newsletter, I knew the seller, I was the first caller. It lived in New Mexico for awhile, and the Cottonwood/Clarkdale area working with an ambulance company, thus the white repaint done last century. He owned it about 23 years, only drove about 300 miles in 3 years, then parked it. He traded a vehicle for getting the rust areas repaired by a Prescott bodyshop, way back. The original Pontiac engine was in the back 40, it has a Chevy 283 built April 2 either '61 or '62, not run in 20 years. Hood ornament is what made me impulse buy.
Spotlight bulb/lens is broken, wonder if putting an LED light in there would work. I look forward to puttering around town, and taking the mountain bike to a trailhead.I would like to get decent patina taillight lenses for a start, and one front turn signal lens that isn't broken. The heater control levers are missing, have an extra unit that looks like for a Chevy. I would like to put correct mirrors on. I won't be a stranger!
