Usually only take about 5 minutes. Long enough to warm the engine, too.
I remember when you could take your suspect tubes to the corner drug store and test them there for free. And buy a fresh tube for the burned out ones.
Of course, my Dad drove. So that was a while ago.
Not sure how to get tubes tested now.
One bright side: in case of a nuclear EMP, tubes won't be burned out like transistors.
