Weber Kettle

Looking for ideas on how to build a counter top around my 22" round weber kettle. I just have the kettle on its stand that it came with and I dont have anywhere to set stuff on like a gas grill typically has. Ive seen a couple cool ideas online where they build it out of wood and cut a circle in it and use some type of pegs to keep the kettle away from the wood. From what ive read - seems like its safe. Another idea I have is just building a stand alone wood counter that I can wheel into the garage when Im not grilling. Another option would be just pony up the cash ($500?) for a whole new assembly that weber makes that has the kettle built in to the metal counter like a gas grill would have.

Anybody out there have anything like what im talking about? Or have seen something that would work that would be on the cheaper side to build?
