1972 C10, QA1 and drop spindles
Not really a question, just something I noticed....
So yesterday I went to return some parts at Classic Industries. I also picked up their drop spindles. I did not know they had 3" drop spindles so I went in there with the intent of purchasing their 2.5" drop spindles. I really need to go through their catalog before I head there. Since I'm going with a QA1 set up I am required to use '73+ spindles and outer tie rod ends. No problem... As I was looking at their catalog (page #380) I noticed they do not make a 1/2 ton, '73+ 2.5", drop spindle for my 1972 factory 1.25" rotor. They do make a 1/2 ton '73+ 3" drop spindle for a 1.25" rotor so that is what I went with. Either way I can adjust the height with the QA1 set up and didn't want to take the chance of running in to a problem. The only difference is the amount of drop each spindle gives so not a big deal. I guess since I was already set on purchasing their 2.5" drop spindles because this is what most people use, this threw me off and I wondered why. My build will be done in steps so I need my factory brakes until the next step of brakes and wheels/tires. |
