T350 to 700R4
I have an '81 GMC Jimmy (K5) with a bad tranny. I also have an '84 for parts that has what was initialy thought to be a bad tranny - the truck had a lot of engine work done, but when the guy got it back, the tranny wasn't working. When the guy that I got it from was pulling the engine he noticed some things for the tranny were not hooked up which made him believe the tranny might be good after all.
The '84 has no engine, but the tranny and transfer case are still there. Someone else had already pulled the rear drive shaft and the part of the tranny it connected to (the tail shaft?). Am I screwed with out these parts or will the parts on my T350 be the same? My question(s) are this: Will the 700 from the '84 go into my '81 (both square bodies) if I have everything from the '84? Would they both use the same transfer case (208 I believe)? Can I unbolt the T350 from the transfer case, leaving the driveshaft in place, and bolt the 700 up to it. If this is possible, will I need a different carb to match up to the kick-down linkage? Anything else I should know?
