1996 Chevrolet Lumina Starting Problem

Sorry for the post on the truck forum. But a really good friend of mine has a 1996 Lumina and it won't start all of the sudden. The battery on the car is new allong with the alternator. I tried to jump the car and it made no attempt to start. If you get in the car and turn the key, everything works but it makes no noise. No attempt to start at all. I banged on the starter and it made no differance. I even tried to jump the starter with a screwdriver and you can hear the relay kick out but the starter is not turning. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Maybe some relays or something to check ? Thanks everyone, and again I appologize for the post on the truck forum but everyone here is full of tips.
