Carb. Rebuild Time??

Hey guys I was wondering what are some signs that a the carb needs to be rebuilt. Mine has never been rebuilt and it is the stocker from 76. My engine has little to no pickup it is really rough if I start it in the morning after it sits all night. Are these signs? I know my motor has never been rebuilt and it is starting to get tired. Then if it does need rebuilt is it that hard to do? I do most of the work on my truck but I'm teaching myself as I go. Where would be a good place to get a rebuild kit? Oh my truck is a 350 with a 4 bbl carb.
Thanks,
Zack
