73-87 Truck of the Month- October
Congrats go to our October 73-87 Truck of the Month. This months winner is loblazer. This is one sweet Blazer. Here are the details.......
Manufacturer: Chev Year: 1980 How long have you owned this truck?: 4 years History behind the truck: I bought the truck from a local truck lot through a Trader Ad. It sat in my garage for 2 years before I had time to start it. Last spring I got it running right, put the lowered suspension on it and all new brake components to start fresh and stop safe. I took the top off and drove it open all summer to cruises and work. Chassis Suspension- Stock 1980 2wd frame Front: 3" DJM spindles, 2.5" drop coils, Belltech 4" Nitro drop shocks. Rear : 5" DJM flip kit, 5" C notch by me, 6" Belltech Nitro drop shocks Brakes- Front : 1 1/4" HD new rotors, new calipers, new pads Rear : 11" HD new drums, new pads, new wheel cylinders Tires- Front : 255x60x15 Dunlop GT Qualifiers Rear : 275x60x15 ditto Wheels- Front : 8" x 15" Chev truck rallies, new Corvette 4" trim rings, new GM centres with new 3 bar knock offs Rear : same Rear end- Gears: 10 bolt, 3:08 Body- 1984 front clip was on the truck when I bought it. It had new fenders, inners and doors. I have added a 1990 hood, windshield, side glass, rear roof and tailgate with power window. New rear panels from the door to the gate. New rear inner fenders. New floors. New fr/rr 1984 Blazer bumpers without rubbers or guards. I have made custom taillights and removed the back up section. I have added a halogen light license frame on the rear plate for backups. I added a 1996 Lumina van gas door on the side panel as it came without a hole. Custom mirrors from a surplus store painted body color. Color Scheme: Light Almond Pearl Metallic (2004 PT Cruiser) Three coats of epoxy primer ($200/gal), two coats of color, 2 heavy coats of clear. All work by a bodywork friend in his spare time. Trim: All trim and emblems shaved off. Removed and filled rear panel on gate. Interior- Originally light grey cloth. Installed new grey carpet last year plus 1990 grey Blazer rear seat and front headliner. Made up new side panels but not in yet. Color : Going for 4 ivory or cream buckets. Carpet will be Navy. Lower dash will be body color and my mint grey dash pad will be dyed in navy. Door panels and rear panels will be a combination of tan and navy to compliment the seats, made by me and covered by me. Rear roof is sprayed body color inside and the headliner will be light tan to match the panels. Material : Not sure yet, cloth or leather. Depends what I find at the wreckers. Upholsterer : me Steering wheel: Black 4 spoke GM GT wheel, tilt column. Will be changing it for a Lumina 4 spoke padded wheel in tan to match the dash and the column. Instrument Gauges: Brand new GM NOS gauge package installed last summer. Stock bezel in great shape. May remove the silver and paint it to match the tan dash. Would look nice with the black gauges? Engine: Cubic Inch: Not sure. Was told it was a 350 when I bought it. I haven't checked the numbers yet. Has good power. Manufacturer: Chev, block painted black. Valve Covers: Chrome Chevrolet Power Exhaust type: Stock, full duals sitting on the garage floor. Intake: Stock Chev with a Weiand aluminum intake in my garage to go on this winter. Stock rebuilt carb. Air Filter: Mr. Gasket 14" x 5" chrome cover & filter. Transmission Automatic:350 Turbo, rebuilt 1986 Camaro 700R4 with shift kit sitting on the garage floor too. I already have one trophy for Best of Show at a local cruise on Truck Night. I would like to thank my friends and family who have helped me and encouraged me to complete this truck.
