black smoke?

going into town this morning my burb started to idle rough and then it just quit. i managed to get it started and limp home. exhaust was black. its all stock, i think its a quadrajet, anyway there is a fair amount of gas leaking onto the intake. im not a carb expert but im guessing its time for a rebuild or maybe just buy a new carb...im up for suggestions. if its new carb time ill want one that will bolt in no muss no fuss and will take the stock air cleaner.
then again maybe its not the carb...thanks for any help
