I have a line on a SWB 1990 bed that a guy will sell me for 200 bucks. I only want it for the sheetmetal in the floor to use in my 69. I know that the older trucks have a narrower bed. So...I need the following.

I need to know if the 1990 has enough bed sheetmetal to cover everything, wheel wells are my concern.

I also need to get some kind sole to give me some measurments, advice, pics..etc. What I really need are the measurements of the true dimensions of a 69-72 SWB fleet bed floor.

This won't happen for a while, but if this will work I need to go ahead and pick up this bed while I can.

you might as well just spend the money on the material to put a wood bed with stainless steel strips in your bed.

I'm not sure if the '90 is the same as a '98 but my boss gave me a bed mat from his '98. it comes about 4 inches narrow on each side. I suggest finding one from a '73-'87 instead. you may have to do some patching for where the filler neck bulge is on the floor.

Woops, left out important info there.......the 69 is a fleet and the 90 is a fleet. I can't find the older model beds....which ones are a direct fit?

I built a steel floor for my longhorn, & while it was a little work, The cost in materials wasnt bad. the crossrails are 2x3x1/8 wall rect tubing, with a 3x3 on the rear. i have a few rooftop shots of the bracework..... http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn i think you will find it easier to build from "scratch", than try to fit a later floor to your box. best of luck,crazyL

Cost of materials? Its been a while, but to my best guess around $175. I basically replaced the stock crossbeams for the box with square , & rectangular tubing. the floor can then be layed in treadplate, & painted or spray lined. its not a pretty as a wood floor, but very strong. best of luck,crazyL
