changing crossmembers

Somebody refresh my memory when you swap crossmembers from drum to disc does the steering box get changed too? I remember something about this but I can't find it now.

No, the steering gear is bolted to the frame just ahead of the crossmember. And they should interchange up to around 87 I beleive.

Almost the same.

The later model boxes used O-ring fittings while the earlier ones used flare type fittings.
