A locker locks both axle shafts for traction. There are several different kinds. Most popular is the no spin detroit. A full locker differs from a limited slip simply because both wheels dig all of the time. These are most desired by the 4x4 community in the rear of their 14ff 10.5" ring gear axles. A locker in the front will get you alot further along an obstacle however it may reduce road friendliness. I've got a locker in the rear and a limited slip in the front of my trail K5. But only because I'm running a 8 lug 10bolt and don't really want to put too much strain on the axle shafts and ujoints. When and if I ever find a 1 ton front axle (D60) I'll go with a full locker in the front. Hope this helps you.
