leaf spring dana 60?
well, the parts truck i got is a 2wd 3/4 ton, and has a leaf spring dana 60 rear in it. not sxure on the gears...
is it worth anything at all? i was thinking it was a plus, just because it would be worth more at the metal yard... for weight! should i take it to the junkyard, or try and see if anyone can use it? zach |

I'll bet it was a big block truck....if so, 3.54 gears should be in there.
Damn shame you are so far away. |

Leaf dana 60
I have a leaf dana 60 but no BB, never was, wish it had one
I think mine is 4.10 open version behind 350/350 stock, still way better in my opinion that eaton version.

350/350 should have a 4.10....in an eaton or a dana.

Mine had a 4.10 in it also. Changed it to a 3.54 for better mileage.

On the subject of Dana 60 rears, I have a leaf spring rear that has a 4.10 posi.
What kind of posi was used in these? Can the posi be used if I switch the gears to 3.54? Is it worth anything as is? |

The posi was the powr-loc made by dana. I've seen it refered to as the tightest posi available short of a true locker. Not sure of the carrier break for the dana 60, don't know if it will work w/ 3.54 gears. The powr-loc can be rebuilt and clutches added to tighten it up. I have the manual(dana 60/70 powr-loc) if you need a copy.

Around here that dana 60 would sell quick and for a good chunk of change. There is a lot of 4x4 mudder trucks around here that love to break axles and mangle sheet metal (that happens with bigblocks and 44" tires). Thats not my cup of tea I would rather build something nice and keep it that way. If that dana 60 has the brake drums that can be removed without removing the axles (there will be some countersunk screws thru the drum inbetween the studs) that would make it a even better find. It would defiantly be worth more to someone than to sell it for scrap.

It appears that the split was 4.10 and numerically lower(3.54) case. With a 4.10 gear set available for the 4.56 case.

I have a leaf spring dana 60 410posi rear and I haven't sold it yet on this thread ,I was asking $300 for it then $200 so I don't think yours will not be worth much here.maybe its just location for the other members.then again look at TXfirefighters truck hasn't sold either and its a steal at the price he wants.maybe everyone here would rather hold onto there money and let the good deals pass by.

The only difference is the spacing of the springs. the 2wds are wider spacing than the 4wd frames. Randy70c-10 has a 2wd 3/4 ton w/ a dana 60 and the spring pad spacing is wider than that of my dana 60 in my 70.
