blew my motor today :(

i threw a rod in my 72 today! this blows, i knew the engine needed some major attention but i thought it would last while i was doing the body work/paint and interior on the truck. ive been spending all my money on the interior and front clip and other parts and now looks like i need a new engine 1st. im going with the 350/250hp crate motor with the 3yr/50k warranty for $1300. too bad i only have $400 free right now....

Damn, that sucks. Hey, nothing you can do now about your old engine so think positive. Every cloud has a silver lining. Just think, now you can get a NEW engine. I hope its not an omen, working on other parts of the truck. I'm putting a lot of time and money into my interior at the moment, maybe I should knock on wood with regards to my engine. Good luck getting your new engine though.

You mena knock on wood grain. Not wood.
Bummer bout your motor man...I know the feeling all too well. I blew mine on the way home for breakfast a few years ago. (Army days) It tried to lock up...but I didn't let it. I limped it home at about 25 MPH with no oil pressure.
Turned out it has 3 spun rod bearings, and 2 bent rods.
If i woulda known it was a high nickle block, i wouldn't have gotten rid of it so easily.

What a bummer. Better break out a credit card - those are evil but useful little things!

Start selling parts off your blown motor- Heads, and anything else that the new engine will already have.
