Well here are my pics of the new old truck. I drove it home, an adventure. I had never drove a three speed on the column. The engine in it needs rebuilt but the engine in the back was thrown in and its suppposedly a good running engine, the seller was gonna change then out. Very nice! ......you need to get rid of the 80's rear fenders and steps though.

Congrats on your purchase.

To change the current stepside bed to original look, you can check my website for the mods you'll need to do to your current bed. I notice that the engine in the bed has HEI. Double check to make sure they are the same design engine as the original. The one might be a newer style with integrated head. It'll bolt into place and as long as you have no accessories you will be ok, but if you have power steering or A/C by chance the original stuff will not diretly mount to the new engine without different brackets.

Looks like a fine start on project. Good luck on whatever you attempt with it.

If paint is any indicator, the L6 in the bed would be a '67-'72, because it's Chevy Engine Orange, like SBCs. Earlier L6s were apple green and later sixes were GM Blue. Unless some rebuilder rattle-canned a newer block w/ Chevy Orange [which could easily happen] chances are that block has the more desired seperate (non-integral) head/intake set up. But if it is an integral unit -- you can still rebuild the earlier head and mount it on the later block. Then you can bolt up such goodies as headers (Clifford, Hedman), a 4 barrel intake (Clifford, Offenhauser) 4 Bbl Carb (Holley 390 cfm, Carter AFB/Edelbrock 1404 500cfm); to say the least. I love '68s w/L6s.
