'69 Panel or '70 SWB truck?

Hey guys have a dilemma here. Started to restore a 1970 C10 SWB then got a good deal on a 1969 C10 Panel. I have to back-burner one while I restore the other (not enuff $$$ to go around). Which one do you think I should do first? BTW I just pulled body off of the 1970 frame... haven't sand-blasted, or modified yet.

panel won't be for sale. Just on the back burner, if I go with truck.

Make an extended cab p/u using the panel and put the stepside box on the back / Ive seen this done and it looks killer

Continue with the truck. When that is finished, then you can play on the panel.

For me, I am still working on a 67 short fleet, my first truck. During this project, I have picked up three more trucks that were good deals and they each will get their turn at being redone. It is hard not to start working on the others but I made it as goal not to touch those trucks until the first one is done. Besides, the knowledge that I am gaining from the first truck is going to help me do thing faster and easier on the next truck.
The other trucks are a 71 Chevy blazer 2 wheel drive (has 67 front clip), a 67 Chevy 3/4 4x4 Suburban, and just took possession of a 67 Chevy one ton tow truck. As far as which is next to restore, I don't know yet. The tow truck and Burb are drivers, the blazer is not.

Have Fun either way!!!

Finish what you started and build the truck, then move on to the panel

I have always loved panels,mostly the 55-57 Sedan Deliveries,but the panels are awesome.I would do the panel.There aren't near as many of them,and they are just too cool IMO.

I am leaning that way, if the info on this site is correct, there were only 5420 of the '69 panels produced.... that is pretty low IMO. i had no idea of this, I just knew (when I bought it) that I had not seen ANY on the road here in Texas. I bought it for $899. Had to go to Delaware to get it. Already has small-block in it. Goodwrench motor. Doors are good. I guess I should post pix, so everyone can see it before and after.

The truck is gonna be for my step-son to drive (if he earns it by then), and he is 12, so I have 4 years to get around to it.

Here is a good comprimise...
Take a short break from the pick up. Thrash on the panel a couple months, make it safe and dependable. Toss a stereo in it and maybe some swap meet rims with new BFG tires and a glass pack for the death tone.(I'm asuming it is an inline)
Now drive this sucker untill the wheels fall off. You'd be amazed at how much fun a beater can be. Take it to swap meets and haul your new parts in it, not being aft\raid to haul nasty junk yard parts...look at it as a tool FOR your restoration...not something to hinder the restoration.

Good IDEA!

BTW. this panel has a goodwrench V8 in it. good idea though. Then when through using it for beater, can resto. it. Maybe get some extra doors... reverse 'em (passenger to driver side and vice versa) place them behind the front doors (suicided of course) and make a supercrew out of the panel... whatcha think?

Blastphemy! The old girl has earned a nice, long rest-oration. Finish the truck, do the Panel next and think very carefully about the decision to turn a 16 YO loose in a vehicle with a blind-spot the size of Texas!

I think that blind spot is what has done in most of the Panels

Good point,

But the deal I have worked out with him is he gets my 97 F150 to drive (6 cylinder with airbags) if he helps me restore the '70 truck. And he'll never drive the panel whilst I'm paying attention.. We live in country.. too many trees, deer, tall opossums, etc. to run into.

What you do with it depends on how much you like Panels I guess.Of course having several projects going at one time isn't bad either
