Lokar floor shift question

Hey Guys,
Awhile back I remember a board member had got the tallest floor shifter from Lokar products. How much did it cost, and where did you have to mount it on the floor? Up by the dash, or close by the bench seat?
Also can someone repost those pics for me?

hi. im the one with the tall lokar shifter. you might try www.lokar.com and they have a list of vendors. i got mine from a local speed shop (socal speed shop) they run about 300 for the one i got. they are very nice though. beautiful chrome allen head bolts and bracketry is very solid and is coated. i can answer any other questions you have so just ask away.

never mind the GAPING hole in my floor. that was how the previous owner attacked the floor to put in the crappy previous floor shifter. the nice little square hole is all you need to for it to work

here is mine, its the 16 inch long one i believe, imo its the best length and design for these trucks

the first pic shows the size of hole you need in your floor, unlike dinnuts

I've got the tall Lokar in my 54 Chevy. It's called the Nostalgia model. Cheapest place by far to get them is Speedway motors. They are right at 200 or 210 dollars last time I checked.

I don't like to buy anything like this local, as tax on that would ad 20 dollars to the price. Mail order is non taxed. Shipping is cheap too.

To answer your questions, a Lokar can be mounted pretty much anywhere front-to-rear that you wish. You can put it back by the seat, or up by the dash.

Then, once bolted in, you can "roll" the shifter fore or aft to make the arc like you want it.

I like the truck floor shifters (don't know the name) that sit right at the base of the bench seat, then come up and curve back over the edge of the seat a little bit. Seemed to be in a good position and require less reaching and leaning to change gears.

I have one of those on my 4x4 Blazer with a th400.

I need to get the adjustment right, doesn't seem to want to shift correctly...

Any tips?

Mine was a bit tricky as well, you have to tighten or loosen the linkage until you get it right. Make sure that the linkage isn't rubbing against the tranny or the floor.

Randy, it looks like your shifter mounts to the floor wheras the others appear to be mounted to the shifter...is that correct? I don't quite have the clearance for a tranny mounted one, but a floor mounted one would work. Can you tell me more about yours?

Yep, mine mounts to the floor, you can mount it as far forward or back as desired, you just trim the linkage accordingly. I'll take some more pics and post them in a few.

Here ya go, the install is easy. The only thing between the lever going through the floor and the lever attached to the tranny is a 5 inch length of all-thread with a heim joint at each end. The shifter works great and even has the neutral safety switch built in (note the two wires coming up through the floor) Also, the lever that goes through the floor comes in three different bends so you can center it wherever it's most comfortable.

i guess i got off easy wioth mine, i had a high hump 4 speed cab, so when i changed to the th350 the 16 incher what right about the same height as the stock shifter. i also had no holes to make

Yeah, proper placement of the hole can be tricky. Lokar also makes a shifter boot that covers the hole (sold separatley).
I looked around for the part# of the shifter but couldn't find the paper work. The Sasche rod shop has 3 guys that work there (all named "Mike" ) I order all of my stuff through "Mike #3" .

i got the lokar boot and they are very small, the hole in the floor has to be as small as possible or the boot doesnt quiet cover it, there is 4 screw holes in the ring that holds the boot down, i could only get 3 in but i put the 4th one in just doesnt screw into anything

Jeez, you slushbox guys sure go to a lot of trouble to simulate real transmissions!
Does Lokar offer a phony clutch pedal you can push on while you're rowing that stick around?
