Hey Gee Emm, tailgate update

GeeEmm, I was doing some work on my tailgate today and you had asked before if there was white painted on it. Well, I told you no but when I started sanding it down I found white in the recessed area around the GMC letters. The gate is green, the recessed area was white and the letters were green.

Hope this helps, Roger

Cool, thanks for checking. I am having a hard time trying to figure out if I should paint my letters or not. I want it to be 'correct' but I am not sure if it would be too much white since I am planning to have the bumpers white too. I found this one on ebay. This is what it would look like, opinions anybody?

That is how I would do it. I like the tailgates painted correct, makes them look like they have never been painted before. One of the first things I look at on a truck is to see if the letters are painted correct.

Does yours have the taillight bezels and tailgate trim like in the picture? As far as I can tell mine didnt have those, it must have been a super plain jane version.

I am not too crazy about how the white bumper looks on the front with the chrome grille and all the black paint on the grille. Here are the hubcaps I will be using. Good thing about doing it the plain jane way is the only thing I have to get rechromed is the grille, I will save a ton of money :p

Yep, here's a pic of the back, you can tell it's there.

I think it's cool you're keeping yours plain.

My 70 Blazer has the white chevy letters and a large white bumper-I like the look. But I agree about the front end, my front bumper is white and it just doesn't look right with the grille. Pictures of mine are at msnusers.com 70BronzeBeauty if you want to see a 71,000 mile survivor with the original paint, nicks and all. Mike

you need to replated the grille and get a chrome bumper Greg. i plan on getting a chrome GMC grille for my truck, but look how the full chrome cleans up the front.

Yah but the way I do things, I don't care if its ugly or unfunctional, as long as it is correct. :p I would have loved to have had cup holders in my console but I had to get seatbelt holder console instead
