Louvered Hoods
I know you can get custom louver work done. But,who makes a louvered hood?I know of one person that has one.His son built the truck a while back.I can`t get in touch with his son. But,his dad says he bought it that way.I don`t know of any custom louver shops in the Mid-Atlantic area.If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

I am pretty sure no one reproduces them, but a buddy of mine made a press to punch them. I used to keep one around. I think he may have some left or he can probably punch them on yours if prefered. It has been sometime since I have seen him, but i think he still will do it. I think he was charging about a $1 a louvre. I am in the northern part of VA so wouldn't be to far for you.

Jewels had one. After drowning her engine a couple times in Indiana rain storms, she was trying to find a way to close the louvers!!

Yeah, louvered hoods are probably not best thing for daily drivers.Pickupman,I`d be interested in talking to your louver man.Bowtie67,is that a 67/68 or 69+?And,how much?Also,K5krazy has one on his Blazer.

Oh yeah. Now I remember that thing.I wanted it back then.I am interested. When I get to the body work on my lil`shortbed(`72 Fleetside),it`s gonna be a`67 or`68 GMC stepside.I might even do the small window thing(`67).I have access to a crappy cab and I`ll cut the w/s posts and the back of the floor.Unless I come across a decent`67 cab.Anyway, yes,I`m interested. If you could wait a little while,I`d appreciate it.Like after Christmas.I wasn`t looking to buy right now,but that`s how it goes.Gotta snag it when it`s there.I`m still curious about anyone making these, also.Do you know anything about yours?I was thinking about louvers on one of my`72 4wds also.

Do they make anything to go under the louvers to keep the water from dripping on the motor? Like rails or something?

~This is a test of the Newbie Question Alert System~
Wouldn't a louvered hood slow down the air flow through the radiator considerably?? ~This completes this test of the Newbie Question Alert System~ |
