Exhaust manifolds for Vortec heads?
I know this must have been covered a bunch of times....wish I knew how to search past threads.
If I switch to Vortec heads can I use my stock exhaust manifolds? I know I need a new intake, just can't remember about exhaust. My truck has about 40,000 on a crate motor and me thinks the valve guides are leaking oil into the cylinder heads, making starting it a bit rough especially when its cold. Instead of fixing that, why not get some used Vortecs!? (Will my wife buy this?) If I just want decent stock performance does anyone know what head numbers I should look for (not concerned about high lift cams). Thanks again.

Not sure on casting numbers, but they were standard issue on 96-98 trucks. You may need guided rockers as well. I'm using headers with mine, but I'm pretty sure your manifolds will bolt up.

Your original manifolds or any headers that are designed for the original V8 in your chassis will work.
