What do I need to know about 1989 GMC Suburbans?
I am going out to look at a 1989 GMC Suburban today, and I need to know what I should be aware of. What are the strengths and weaknesses? I know the '89 is still a solid axle, but is it too weak? Give me any feed back you can.

Too weak for what?Is it a 1/2 or 3/4t?My`91 is a diesel 3/4t with stock axles & 35"tires and Gov-lok(4.10).It`s fine for what I do with it.I swiched to manual hubs.Automatic hubs can`t take alot of horse-play.The rear 1/4s are prone to rust, drivers side mostly,if it`s spent time where body rot occurs.
