is this diff. posi???
how do i tell, glove box says so,vin matches glove box.diff cover bolts were hard to come off, like they were never off in 30 years
is'nt both tires suppose to spin at the same time when jacked in the air?? this one spins 1 wheel at a time.

That is an open differential. A previous owner could have swapped out the entire rearend assembly. Sorry.

if im nto mistaken, one wheel at a time means worn out posi.. posi both wheels should turn the same direction, and non they should spin opposite directions with the rear jacked up. i dont know what posis look like though so i dont know by the pic

the ultimate way to test for limited slip or locker unit short of burning rubber on gravel or pavement is to have someone hold a wheel in place and you turn the pinion yoke clockwise and if the assistant cant keep the wheel from turning then its a limited slip/locker, these units provide power to the wheel WITH most traction and not the least like in open diffs,
also with both wheels hanging, BOTH wheels will spin same directiona nd same speed if you turn the yoke, if you have limited or locker the pic above that you provide depicts a std open diff, not the lack of springs and clutch plate tabs on RH side in the unti good luck |
