88-98 Steering column
Will a steering column from an 88-98 truck work in a 67-72? Does painless or someone else make a harness adapter?

I don't know if it would fir or not. A lot of people like the older style ( pre-73, or van type that don't have the ignition in the column). I was thinking of getting one with the key in the column. My buddie asked "what about the key hole?". I said " put another lighter outlet for a cell phone plug". He gave me a blank look. I thought he might hit me for a minute. Then he said " GREAT idea". So it's whatever truns yer crank, or wheels, whatever the case may be. If it's an outomatic hooking up a gear position indicator might be a real P.I.T.A.

i'll field this one, as i have done it, and if i had to do it again, i would'nt. first of all, you must modify (cut and reshape) the mounting bracketry because the factory 67-72 columns are a lot smaller that later ones. also must cut the dash out to accept bigger diameter column. lastly you hafta cut off and remount the bracket at the floor and i had to collapse the connecting shaft cuz the later column is a tad longer.
if you are gonna try it, and you don't want the key switch, you can do what i did, cut off/grind off the protruding part of the column, duct tape the hole from the backside and fiberglass the hole, sand, and repaint. this also works for changing a column shift unit to a floor shift by removing the shift mount bulge after the column shifter is removed. HAVE FUN!!
