Looking for a cab to a 58 GMC pickup
I am looking for a cab with doors to fit my 58 GMC. My cab has been turned into a convertable. My email is diofantine@hotmail.com

If you could find a good 55-59 Chevy cab cheap you could use it. You'd just have to cut the dash out and put in a GMC dash...which would probally be more work then you're looking for. But just an idea.
Around here seems like GMC stuff is ALOT higher then chevy stuff, dunno why.

It's because the GMC's are a rare breed compared to the Chevy's. They do not reproduce fenders , grille, bumperettes or fleetside bed sides for the GMC. I called GM about this and they said that because if the low manufactured number of GMC's for 58/59, they wouldn't be reproducing these parts. We are using all out original 58 parts except for the fenders on our project. We bought some fenders off a board member and they should be here any day now

Other than the holes in the fenders for mounting emblems, how are they different from Chevrolet fenders? It has always been my assumption that the reproduction steel doors, hoods and fenders would fit both GMC and Chevrolet. I bought reproduction steel front fenders for my 59 GMC and my body man had to weld the emblem holes up and drill new ones for GMC but everything else worked fine.

The other body parts are in good shape, otherwise I would trash and start over. Does anyone have some ideas what to do with this or better yet pictures. If I keep the top off and tilt the windshield back and roud off a few things on the body and doors might make a cool truck. I was thinking something like the Chevy SSR.

The fenders and hood for 58/59 are the same for Chevy and GMC, just different emblems. I have seen a few GMC truck with a Chevy dash with the GMC logo in the cluster, was told it was a work truck hence the chevy dash used in a GMC. The 55/56 front fenders will interchange with GMC, just have to drill holes for the GMC. On the 57 CHevy fenders have an indent for the grill to bolt up. The hoods will not interchange as the GMC has a hole for the emblem but you can put a CHevy hood on a GMC and vice versa just not original. I have also put 55-57 front ends on a 58-59 truck just have to cut the frame in front and drill two holes in the firewall for hood hinges. The frames will not interchange due to the fact that most GMC's used Pontiac motors and they mounts are different.

Work Truck=Fleet Series
GMC Built a line of Trucks for "Fleets"
You know... milk trucks, Military trucks, school buses, dump trucks, gasoline tankers etc. These were called Fleet Series Trucks and while they were GMC by serial number and name they did have some odd features. For example the front fenders on the 58-59's were a dual headlight shape fenders ... BUT they only had ONE HEADLIGHT in the fenders. The grilles were really plain and IMO, kinda ugly. AND YES, The dash was the 55-59 CHEVY Dash! And the V-instrument panel was similar except at the bottom of the lens it had the GMC logo. my two cent worth. rico

I have a big window cab that sat in a field. 55-59 what year? The upper parts, around front window etc, are in great shape. The rockers and cab corners were sitting in the grass so those are wasted. The toe and floor boards are great........dash uncut. Cab is stripped but have good back window. I also have a complete truck except for front seat rust free, just surface rust and a few dents and dings 56 V8 factory 4 speed medium long wheel base step side. I would have to get some bucks for that, had it a couple of years waiting inline. Inside storage and since it doesn't eat it can wait. Let me know, I am in NC by Fort Bragg

I could sell you a big window roof for $175 if interested? I have one that has the custom trim holes in it and it is cut all the way down to the front cowl line and to the rear belt line in the back side. rico
