I need a little help.....
Here are a few pics of the tilt column I have. I need to rebuild it but first I want to make sure of what I have. Previous owner has no clue and the wheel looks to me to be off a mid-eighties truck. I know you guys can tell right off what it is so any help would be great.
Thanks in advance, Bret |

It is a 71-72 truck column or a early 70's van column. Need a picture of it on the outside of the firewall to confirm.

Yes, that is a van tilt, as far as rebuild parts all of your replaceable parts are the same as the 71-72, just the shaft length and location of neutral safty switch is different.

One last question.........where would I find the "internal" parts ? The shifter hangs up at times and there is something plastic that is slowly breaking apart and falling out in pieces when forced into gear.

Bill, it is a little hard to tell by your picture but appears to be 81-87 range

I'd say 84-87. Colums up to 83 had the dimmer switch on the floor...

The column at the top of the post looks to be ab early van tilt...72 - 75 or so. The shifter is long like the stock ones on our trucks. The later ones have a shorter shifter that are nicer when you update to a smaller wheel.
The second tilt pic the 84 to 87-ish, (I think later than that is possible) would not be an easy swap into our trucks. you'll have an ignition switch and wiper switch ans high beam switch to figure out the wireing to, plus you'd have to modify the bottom of the dash due to the later columns larger diameter.
