Question Interior colors available with orange exterior?

I have a 71 Cheyenne 3/4 ton that was originally orange and white. It has a parchment color seat, headliner and sun visors and has a tan color dash pad. Carpet color was red??? but not sure if that was original or not.

Since none of my vehicles have a red interior, I'm considering changing this one over to red for something different since alot of the parts need to be replaced anyway. I will be keeping the outside orange but since all the side trim was gone before I got it, I won't be using any white, just solid orange.

1) Was a red interior available from the factory when the orange and white paint was ordered? If so, what all was red?

2) What color was the top of the dash and vents?

3) Was any of the metal parts painted red?

4) Was this red more of a "maroon" color? I have some armrests but they look more on the maroon side than red to me.

A few pics of red interiors would be nice too if anyone has any.

Thanks,

Bob

This is from a "red" truck, everything seems stock except the seat cover.

The top metal/vents would match the color of the dash pad to my knowledge. The door panels would be painted to match the seat and visors. I have seen white and black colors used in orange trucks, but I am sure red was used as well.

My interior trim color was Fawn. Kind of a gold/silver-gray. Dash pad and visors were gray. Steering wheel and column as well as door panels were Fawn, and the original seat was silver-gray vinyl. Edging on instrument panel was also Fawn. This was on a '68 stepside with 516 Orange exterior. The original 17.5 rims were probably fawn too, but the PO had touched them up with spraypaint aluminum.
Fawn interior also on my last '67 K/10 sub, with white exterior. Similiar trim as the '68. Both trucks were assembled at Fremont Calif. Must've been a popular color on that line. [Or maybe they had a lot of it]. I think the Fawn color was used a lot in Chevy cars and trucks in the '60s. Seems to have been phased out by the early '70s.

Here is my '71, original except for new dash cover, steering wheel (Grant sucks), and I had the seat done in Charcoal tweed, not as hot as the original black.

I don't know for sure about the 71-72's, but my '69 Chevrolet Truck Data book shows the interior and exterior colors and combinations. But, there is a note that says:

Dealer Note: Exterior and interior combinations shown in chart below are those recommended by Chevrolet; however, any exterior color may be ordered with any available interior color if the particular combination is desired by a customer.

Based on that note, it was possible to order a medium green painted truck body, with a red interior....or whatever combo melted your butter. Looks like there could have been some UGLY combos, in spite of how we feel about our trucks. I am guessing this was true in prior years.

Anyone got a Truck Data Book for 70-72?

My Blazer has Off-white seats, door panels and visors, Sandalwood dashpad, steeringwheel and steering column. Also, the top of the dash from the dashpad to the window is painted sandalwood. I have the rubber floor mats in Black. Glove box sticker says "169410 Parchment" Trim.

Yes, it does stick out too far for me. I like that style, but it would be better if it weren't so deep. And then there is the horn, even after 2 horn kits, still no operational horn, and Grant customer service is a joke. I have a horn button on the bottom of the dash so I at least can honk at the girls, hehee!

I have a 69 that is stock orange and white on the bottom with the red interior just like in stickshift. Really more of a dark red or burgundy

My Ochre/white K-10 has the same equipment as yours i.e. white seat, door panels, armrest (parchment trim is how it is listed). And as far as the dash goes, it is tan as well as is the steering column and dash vents. The original carpet is still in the truck and it is tan also. The red seems a little out of place with that equipment but who knows huh?

Thanks for pics and info everyone. Still not sure, I really like the look of the black interior against the orange but this is my chance to have something different. (red) The pics above with the tan interiors don't look bad either.

I never had a vehicle with a red interior and I've had about 22+ cars/trucks in my life.

Just one of those "mid life" things I guess.
