Cool old tach, newer engine/distributor

i want to install a factory in dash tach in my 71 truck. it now has a 77 350 engine w/electronic ignition[hei] ? will the tach still hook up the same, or will i have to splice wires? thanks for any help!

The tach wire hooks up to the HEI tach connection on the cap. Just use a .250 spade connector crimped on or rob a plastic plug from any Hei car with a tach and splice it on.
