Removing smoke damage from glass
The doors I bought for my 72 were from a 70 that had a small cab fire. The glass and door panels have smoke damage on them, and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good cleaning product. Some guys tell me to use oven cleaner to clean it up. It sounds like the way to go, but is there something better to use? Will it also work on the metal and chrome of the window trim?

I don't know if oven cleaner will clean up the smoke damage but I do know it will REMOVE PAINT! If you go this route, be very careful to keep it off any paint you want to keep.

You might want to try white vinegar. I think that works as a heavy duty glass cleaner. Try scraping off as much as you can with a single edge razor blade before you try the cleaner.

you could also use simple green, that works, be careful not to scratch the glass with the razor blade.

Bon Ami works well on the glass. Don't know how well it will work on the painted surfaces.
