Question What type of wheel is on this C50?

Here it is:

I'm looking at a C50 that has the bud style one piece rim already, is it easy to swap between the two? Did these trucks come with different wheel set-ups? Oh yea the truck in the pic is a 1970 and the C50 I'm looking at buying is a 1970. Thanks,

Dont ask why,but those are called california wheels. I think they are used on the east coast more than the left coast. The only trucks I see them on anymore are the coast to coast moving vans. You have to change the hubs to run budd wheels.

Garbage trucks still use them...they are a real PITA.
Never knew they were called California wheels.

the rims are also knowing as dayton rims.On these older trucks they are usally split rims too.unless they have been swaped out.The tires on these trucks are 9.00-20s or 10.00-20s and are getting hard to find in canada anyway.mast hi-way trucks now run at least 11.00-22.5s so just a rim swap will allow the change to a more common tire

They are called dayton wheels actually. to change to buds you need new hubs and brakes etc

We used to just call them Daytons or death waiting to happen.

As John said you will need the bud style hubs, break drums and guts but the spindles should be ok

Funny, I was going to mention before your reply that looks like a split rim. If you look at 11 o'clock on the wheel it looks like you can see the split.

when ordering a new vehicle you can spec either type rim. the dayton rim only comes tubless now with 11/22.5 they use to have the 9:00 &10:00 / 20 on them I believe its the same for Budd wheels. The dayton is a split ring type with a safety ring Thus called a three piece rim.

Just for a little extra info, the Dayton type wheels, usually were on heavier spec trucks.
