1/2 ton rear end questions
I own a 67 gmc, shortbed, 1/2 ton. Its got a 12 bolt pattern ( I belive its a spicer) rear end, 5 lug. The rear passenger wheel is making all sorts of grinding noises. Any idea as to what it could be?
Also, does anyone know if a 76-78 Cadillac rear end with disc brakes will fit on my truck? I figured if Im going to do rear end work on it might as well switch out the whole rear end. does anyone know what other rear ends will fit on this truck? -The Red Rooster Last edited by TheRedRooster; 02-08-2005 at 12:32 AM. |

Check your brakes. Some of the drum brake hardware is probably loose bouncing around inside the drum. A spring maybe, or worn out shoes even.
If your truck has a 5 lug rear, it's not the original one.

yes the stock brackets from a 77-79 cadillac deville will work. the only problem is finding them. most companys use the callapers from this setup because they have the parking brake built in. i'm still trying to find bolt on brackets for larger calapers i.e. the same as the front but i'm looking for the 77-79 brackets for referance. when and if i find them i can get you a set. just ask.
