Gas gauge help
Put the blazer tank in & hooked up the sending unit from the blazer tank to the wire to the gas gauge from the in cab tank. Now when the key is off it reads as having gas, when the key is turned on it goes to empty. It worked fine on the in cab tank. Ground is hooked up. With only 1 wire & a ground what could go wrong.
Thanks in advance, Mike |

It sounds like the sending unit wire is grounded in that your gauge goes to empty. The gauge reads based on the ohms of resistance that the tank unit sends to it, (0 ohms = empty, 90 ohms = full). A grounded wire will give the gauge a 0 ohm signal.
Another possibility is that the float is not floating, (hole in the float). If you have an ohm meter check the reading at the tank unit terminal to ground. If it has a reading for example 45 to 50 ohms then more than likely the sending unit is ok and you will want to check the wire up to the fuse panel. If you disconnect the wire at the fuse panel, the gauge should go to full. Good luck! Jim |
