Factory 8" Steel Wheels?

What's the story on the 8" steel wheels, like the ones pictured on this truck?

Is anybody running these? Anybody have pictures of them on their truck? Are they just 16's, with either 6 or 8 lug and 8" wide?

Are they really rare? Has anybody ordered a reproduction set like from Stockton Wheel or anything?

They just look like factory steelies. i have pair from my 72 k20 and a set on my 70 k2500, i wouldn't think they are rare at all, but i guess i could be wrong.

Could you get them on 1/2 tons. It looks like they were an option on '72 Blazers?

as far as i know (not very far) they would be base model wheels not options, then the rallies would be an option. i know someone else would know this for sure. and yeah they came on 1/2 tons too

The rallies weren't available until '73. On the original '72 Blazer brochure it shows an optional 8.25" wheel? So, this would be a 1/2 ton, six lug wheel, which would be an upgrade from the standard sized wheels? I think these were pretty rare.

From the looks of the hubs on the truck in your pic, I'd guess those to be 16.5x8.25 wheels. The truck looks to have the big 3/4 ton lockout hubs on it is why I say that.

As for being rare, I have no clue. I have 2 or 3 of the 9.75 version like tnblazerk5 posted but I haven't seen a set of 8.25's in a long time.

BTW, tnblazerk5, I had a couple guys asking about the 9.75's I have a while back. Were you one of them? I had a computer virus and had to have the harddrive wiped so I lost everything. IIRC, one of the inquiries wanted to know if mine had the nubs for the hubcaps, to which the answer is no.

You could get a steel 15X8 6-lug non-rally wheel on later 70's model 1/2 ton 4wd trucks. You see alot of them on military blazers from the 70's.

How wide were most 4x4 3/4 ton 16.5" wheels? Are the chances better that i have 9.75" wide rims on my truck? I've never checked and I cant while I'm at school.

I've got four 16x8 FURD rims that I plan on using next time I get new tires. I want to use two of 'em on the front and get some of those 16.5/9.75" rims and put 'em on the back with huge tires if I can find 'em down here. There's a lot of 88-98 3/4 tons at the junkyards here that have the rally rims with black 8 lug centercaps that look nice, but if the guy at the yard is asking 10 bucks for each trim ring I don't even want to know what he wants for four rims/trimrings/centercaps!

Just a guess, but I'd say most 3/4 ton 16.5 wheels were probably 7 inches wide or so.

tnblazerk5; I dunno what they're worth but shipping would be killer I'll bet.
I'll check into it anyway. I'll have to dismount a tire from one, (needs it anyway) to see how much it weighs. They worth $40+ride? Depending on shipping of course.
