I noticed this tonight. How did oil get around the intake manifold bolt?

it came up through the threads. pull the bolt and put some thread sealer on it and the problem will go away its common with small block chevies

I belive it was end of last summer.

OK,,,, if you were to be getting a Lean Air fuel ratio at a certain RPM, that could be causing the Vibration you are describing.... especially if it were to only be in one cylinder... So in other words..... It's a Possibility, that the intake gasket either slipped, or folded when you installed the intake.. Causing one cylinder to suck air, and causing a vibration, and Causing the oil to work up the threads...

If the gasket is leaking from the outside of the engine, You can take a can of starting fluid and spray right at that area.. If you have a leak, the rpms will increase. But if it's folded, broke, or slipped on the Engine valley side it will not make a difference.. Then it's the Find out the hard way,,, !!!!!

Ron I am almoste afraid to ask what the " hard way is" if its taking off the intake then thats ok because I want to get a oil filler hole machined into my edelbrock 2101. If not then I may be getting over my head but hey thats not the first time for that and the guys up on this board have talked me through many a things

Yes,, That's the hard way.... Pull it off good and slow so as not to comprmise what's done to the Gasket, if anything is....... If it's flat and well seated,, Then it's back to square one on your problem......

When I install a new intake gasket, I use gasket sealer on the block side of the gasket, then run a bead of silicone on the front and rear of the block to seal the ends. I let the gasket sealer completely cure before I set the intake on, and allow the silicone to set up to a tacky texture....

I use The "Copper" stuff for sealer.. ( forgot the name....)
