How a Rockwell works
So, I blew out a U-joint, and Tuesday after work, I found it. Unbolted the rear drive shaft, to get to work Wed. morning... Anyway, when I was replacing the U-joint, I still had the X-fer in gear & the hubs locked. So I reached up, and slipped the X-fer into neutral. Well, the front & rear driveshafts were still connected. This caught me off guard I ended up unlocking the front hubs (2-HI would have worked).
So this got me to thinking what are the "main" differences between the Rockwell, and a New Process. If I recall, I have straight cut gears, what about the NP?, and the neutral thing... Just wondering for my own general info...

The new process gears are helical.

When you have the t-case in neutral, both output shafts are still coupled. The t-case gears are uncoupled from the trans. output shaft.
