Replacing steering wheel 67 C10.
I have a 67 c10 short bed 2 wheel drive, thinking of replacing the original large steering wheel with a smaller replacement wheel. Maybe even a quick release hub, this way I can remove the wheel make a bit harder to be stolen I would think.
Thinking of a Grant Classic 15' with a Chevy horn button. Got to admit, I don't know much about steering wheels. Anyone replaced their wheel? Any advice? Is this as easy as I am thinking? Any advice sure be appreciated! Thanks much. |

It is easy with a steering wheel puller.

It's simple. You'll need a steering wheel puller, and then just follow th directions on the wheel paper work. You'll also need an adapter for your aplication.
Real easy. |

What are you going to do with the original wheel? Hopefully not toss it. Someone (cough cough) might want it if it's in decent shape.

It takes about 45 mins to remove the old wheel, install the adapter kit and the new wheel.
Glad to get rid of that huge stock steering wheel, now I just need to get all the power steering done.

I just replaced my original wheel with a Grant #969. It is 15" diameter, and comes with the bowtie center cap. The diameter works really well, and I don't have power steering. The installation was pretty easy, but I did run into a slight problem. The horn plunger (brass) that was supplied with the installation kit was too long to fit correctly. I just took my dremel tool and cut it off a little, so that it would fit like the illustration. Not a big deal, but I was surprised that Grant hadn't noticed the problem. Also, I would have to say that the installation instructions were not great. The instructions covered so many different types of vehicles, that it was hard to really tell how it all was supposed to fit in our application. But it still took less than an hour. My truck is a '71, which take a different Grant installation kit than a '70 and older does. Maybe your kit will be easier to install. It's definitely worth doing. I got my wheel and kit at Advance, and the total with tax was less than $95.

Hope you have power steering and the added length of the quick release should put the wheel up into your chest. Measure everything first to be sure.
