Where to hook up Battery wire for HEI?
Where do I run the Battery wire for the HEI distributor? Is there a place on the fuse panel?
I suppose this is a stupid question....when my wife came home after hauling lots o' kids around the other day, she shut off the 'burb and it wouldn't start again. I tried when I came home, figuring she'd flooded it. Nope. Tonight I found the "BATT" wire frayed and busted and still can't find the other end of the wire or where it was hooked up. A neighbor (who's a die hard mustang collector, president of the Montana Pony club, etc.) even came over and couldn't find it. I ran another wire from the + terminal on the battery to the frayed end of the wire from the HEI and it started. I learned that it wouldn't shut off until I unhooked the wire. Duh. Dumb as a post, here. Is there a good spot on the fuse box that's on/off with the key? Thanks very much.

I have a wire run the "ign unfused" on my fuse box. Come to find out the HEI power wire was the only thing keeping my truck from running when I bought it.

69c10atl is right, ign unfused is a really good spot to run it, but radio, and cigerate lighter connection places will work too (12 volts with key on, i checked them with a voltmeter)

Thanks a million. Is this spot easy to find on the box? Do I need a spade thingamajiggy to hook to the wire?
Again, thanks. This board is awesome. Al

Yes, a connector to go over a spade thingamajiggy is necessary. Be sure you run about a 10-12 ga. wire (the bigger the better), from the "Bat", to the "IGN Unfused" spot on the box.
You should be in business after that! TJ

Since it sounds like you were running on the resistance wire that was only giving out 8 or so volts, don't be suprised it it starts/runs better. And maybe even better MPG, if you don't 'enjoy' the newfound power too much.
