Throwout bearing squealing
This is driving me crazy.I put a new throwout bearing in it in Sept.,and it's squealing alreadyIt doesn't do it all the time, mostly when it's cold.Is it possible that it is spinning on the bellcrank, and squealing? I coated it with a thin layer of grease when I put the engine in,could it be dry,and squealing?
If so is there a way to grease the SOB while it's in the truck?I don't want to pull it out,I am going to an automatic in a few months.

I'm not aware of greasable type throw out bearings for most automotive applications. Keep driving it til you get the automatic in. The worst that would happen is it would go all to pieces and the clutch wouldn't disengage. Oh, and do you mean is it possible to be spinning in the clutch fork? I suppose the answer to that could be yes, but more than likely its the bearing itself.

Do you have the freeplay set at 1 to 1.5 inches so the bearing isn't touching the clutch release fingers and spinning all the time. this would wear out the tb in short order and cause it to squeal. Does the noise change when you engage the clutch to shift?

My throw out bearing is somewhat new also and when I push in the clutch it sounds like the head of a Rockem' Sockem' Robot (if anyone remembers them) when they pop up but does not make any noise besides that. My mechanic says to run it 'till it fails.

I have a couple of inches free travel in the pedal. And yes it does change pitch as I move the pedal.
It becomes nearly silent as it warms up.Well the CD player drowns it out anyway Looks like the automatic is on rush order now,or I'll be totally insane
