New Ride has come home
Well,
2 Days, 1200 miles and what to show,,,1st I brought home my next toy, 68 C10, 4 options no radio, Im trying to figure out what 6 it has, I would think a 292 would be a special option, I looked on the engine and the code was PF,that would leave me think its a 250. The PO thought he had a 292......2cnd, Scored a whole front A arms and spindles for the disk change and a rear axle, now just have to see if the gears are the same. Got to love these options, HD Rear Springs, HD Clutch, Red Trim, Painted Rear Bumper, not much easier than this..... Orginal Bill of sale from 68, truck was $2206 even has the warranty book,,,sweet

Correct me of I'm wrong but don't the 250's have 4" tall side plates and the 292's had something like 6" tall side plates...thats one way to tell the engine size.
Hope this helps and if I'm wrong I hope someone corrects me. Nice truck by the way good luck with it. Mike Last edited by 68haywagon; 03-20-2005 at 10:11 PM. |

Nice little truck.Sounds like god deal to me.
The fuel pump is behind the motormount on a 292,and in front of it on a 250.That's teh easiest way to tell

Maybe this thread will help:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=144402 I just got basically the exact same truck for around $4k and had the exact same questions. There are a lot of clues in that thread.

Everyone is correct, as to the size of the side plate and the fuel pump location to identify a 292.
Also, a 292 has a large coolant bypass hose that goes to the water pump, right by the upper radiator hose. It looks kind of like a second upper radiator hose. 230/250 don't have the bypass hose.
