Post Spindle questions / drop spindles?

Are there any differences between 71 and 72
model spindles?
I have a '71 and the pass-side spindle looks
to be worn on the outer bearing race, looks
like the nut was left a little too loose and
the bearing seat spun. I have access to some
'72 model spindles, Can I use them?
On the flip side, I can get news ones with a
2.5" drop on the front...which that would be
the absolute max for me ( I really dont care
much for the lowered look ) but doing that
will require lowering the back some. I have
coils, so if I go the drop spindle, is 4"
drop in the rear too much? Can I still use
the stock track-arm, or will it need to be
relocated as well? Then I assume different
shocks...I dont mind doing the work -or-
spending the bucks....Just need to know. My
thinking is, if I lower it the 2.5"/4.0" it
will handle a little better...I already have
a 1-1/4" front sway bar and urathane bushings
I am currently going thru the front end...and
of course, now is the time to do it RIGHT,,,
cause its turning out to be alot of work.

Any thoughts welcome, I needs assistance..

Sounds like a good idea to me. If you go to low its just not good for hauling anything and isnt that what trucks are for. I think a 2.5"-3" would be even better.

My beater is lowered 5/7 & I pull an 18' car hauler(loaded w/a rolling swb chassis) w/no probs so 2.5/4 should work pretty good w/no capacity issues.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Well with the stock height...I was gonna put
on P255/70R15 on 15x8 OEM ralley rims, but if
I lower it 2.5"/4.0" (front/rear)...what size
tires would look 'correct' I will put the
same size all the way around, I just like
that look the best. Any body have a side
profile of their truck with a 2/4 drop, I
would really like to see it. Thanks!

That size tire(29") should work w/no prob. I've got 215-75-15's(27.75) on 6.5" rallies & even w/it being lowered 5" in front I only rub when I hit a speed bump or big dip in the road going too fast(once or twice in 2yrs). That combo should fill those wheelwells up nicely. Check w/Early Classics on the home page as they should have profile pics of a 2/4 drop.

Your pan hard bar will probably bo ok, however, it will off set the rear just a little. You might have rubbing problems on one side if you go with rel wide tires and when loaded.
I think Early Classics has an adjustable one.
The '72 and '72 spindles are the same if you decide to keep it stock.
