Time to buy new lug nuts, any suggestions
Not sure if this belongs here, but here goes.
After all the time and money I have put into my truck this year. Noticed today while putting the tires back on that my lugs are junk. I see Gorilla's, are real cheap, I see McGard are very expensive. I think about $110.00 for set for my truck. Don't get me wrong, I realize you get what you pay for, and will probably buy the McGards. Just if anyone had any other suggestions or experience with any other brands before I buy. Thanks!! Last edited by johnymac; 06-15-2002 at 09:09 PM. |

judas priest. 110 for lug nuts? those buggers better be titanium with gold coating. I've got just pep boys ones on my truck, and it was costly enuf buying them but they shine all great and no rust at all. i've no idea on mccards but for that money they better be great

McGards. I've bought cheaper lug nuts, and replaced them several times compared to one set of the McGards. Absolutely STUPID expensive. The list price on the lugs for my alcoas was $5, times 32+ $160! Fortunatately I got them for 1/2 that. I'm guessing you have an 8 lug setup as well? The McGuards for my Datsun were only about $32, 4 lugs ARE good for something!

Just make sure to get the ones that are actually chrome plated, not the ones that have a sorta chrome shell on them. Usually any real chrome plated lugnut should hold up and look good for a long time.

I agree with CoryM. I have $2k worth of wheels and tires on my truck and used chrome acorn nuts from Auto Zone at $.89 each. Very cheap, work great, and nobody says anything about the nice wheels and tires with cheap lug nuts. If they get all rusty in a year, I'll go spend another $21 for another set.
