Distributor Overkill?
I just finished putting in a GM350 crate engine into my truck. I installed a new MSD Pro-Billet Distributor with the coil as part the unit along with new wires and plugs. Not alot of room back there with this thing. There insn't much room between it and the firewall. I originally had the stock distributor on after the install. I can't tell any difference between the two as far as performance goes. Did I just waste $370.00? Is this too much for my 260HP 350 crate? Suggestions?

Distributors don't add power--they just fire the plugs --if your stock one was working ok without missfire at any rpm,adding a MSD, etc. will not add any HP. BUT it will make for easier starting and less upkeep.

I put in an HEI when I bought my crate 350 and do have quicker starts than what I had with my original distributor on the 307.

I have a feeling I should have just bought a basic GM HEI distributor and separate coil and been done with it. Probably save a couple of bucks too.

look at this way you got a bulletproof piece it will last a damn long time and it will work with any upgrade in the future
