oil filler tube fabrication
has anyone ever tried to make an oil filler tube for a smallblock?? I have a really nice set of finned alluminum corvette valve covers and want to use them on this 327 I just bought, but they have no provisions for filling the crankcase with oil, or pcv valve which is not a big deal, as i can use the original road draft tube, but the intake is alluminum and it has nowhere to add oil either, i was thinking of drilling a 3/4" hole in it and making some kind of tube to add oil, or going into the timing cover or somewhere. Any Ideas??

most aluminum manifolds have a flat spot you can drill and you can buy new tubes in chrome I have did it in the past ....my .02 wortj

cool, that's what i was hoping, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna drill anything that shouln't be drilled. I hate to mess up a good alluminum intake. This is a stock gm intake, btw.

I'd ditch the stock intake, and ger a performer. They have a blank in the front of the intake that you can drill out as mentioned above.
PCV provisions are nice to have, I thnk the intake can be drilled for that also. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. Trying to clean up the left over damage from the Dope-Smokin-Old-Man I've been dubbed the Longhorn Freak/Fanatic/Expert, I just hope I can live up to it. If you have the corvette valve covers that have the fins, does it have the big hole on the right side. Ifso go to the Chevorlet dealer and order the filler tube for a 82 collector corvette and screw it on. Thats what I did. If you look at my sit in my signature you can see it.

these valve covers are from a 67 vette, they are finned and say corvette, really neat, I refuse to cut them up to fill the crank, I tried for alot of years to get them from my uncle and he wouldn't sell them to me, when he passed away, I snatched them before anyone else got a chance to start lineing things up for auction. I have them hanging on the wall in the shop right now. I think I'll go with Longornmail, I just went out and looked at the intake close, I won't be able to drill a big enough hole in it to take the tube, and it would come out at an angle to the front, really look bad. I'm thinkin' performer sounds like the way to go.
