1975 Suburban fuel tank in a 72

anyone put a 75 or so suburban 32 gallon tank in a 72. i have a poly blazer tank under there and not enough fuel and i cant get the sending unit lock ring to seal and it leaks fuel and fumes. ready to trash can the poly tank, all help appreciated.

You can see it was a tight fit. If I could find a 31 gal I would swap it.

big71, you owe me a beer, its a swb. hehe
What I dont like is the tank hangs over the dif(you can see that in the last pic). Ive got 8 1/2 inches of clearance and I know it would take a lot to get it to hit but I dont like it. A 31 gal tank is about 10 inches shorter, I think, and that would give me the clearance I want. If anybody could measure their 31 gal tank and post it Id be thankful. Just to be sure.
You can also see how I had to "massage" the tank to get it to fit. In fact I had to massage it so much it now only holds 35 gals.
Lesson learned, 41 gal tank-swb truck, dont do it. (my opinion)
