Water Drips Under Dash!

I have water dripping under both far sides of my dash when it rains - but I cannot find where it is coming from.
It doesn't seem to be coming from the windshield.
Has anyone had similar problems? Help... rust = evil.

Most likely it is comming from the body seem under your windshield cowling. Pull the cowling off, and you will see where they factory used body puty to seal the seems. Will be on both sides. It is real common for the body puty to crack in this area, causing water to drip inside. I just went through this with my truck. I got a die grinder and grinded out the old sealer. Bought some new sealer and put back into seem. One thing to think about while you got the cowling off, is installing screen across the cowling on the inside, to help keep trash out of the cowling area.

That's the spot! If you remove your glovebox, you can see that seam from the inside. This leak leads to the rotting away of floorboards and inner rockers. All that water has no where to go.

Ahhhh....that's probably where mine leaks at too. I know my windshield leaks as well.

Its really annoying - I noticed some of that putty on my front roof gutter - I wonder if thats where the previous owner thought it was coming from.

Try the antenna hole and make sure that there isn't any rust holes in your cowl. Is this a A/C truck? You may want to check all you grommets on the firewall.

i checked th antenna - thought maybe water was travelling down th wire - no such luck - it's sealed

The rain gutters (drip rails) have putty put in them by the factory, but many owners have to reseal them as the seam goes above the windshield, also.

Ahh - I'll have to pick up this putty - any special recommendations?

Talk to one of the vendors. I've just always used a metal putty - liquid steel? - that I can work with file, sander, etc. after it sets.

i have/had the same problem... ok when my truck sat in the rain or got washed water would sit in my drip rails then run out onto my door and then go past my door seal and run down to the dash and leak out onto the floor bye the kick panels... drove me crazy untill one day i sat in the truck and had my dad spray it with the hose. hopefully this helps, if not i can only say to just sit in the truck and have someone spray/dump water on it and see were the leak comes from

I think it is a combination of problems. Seam putty should get replaced, thinking about removing rain gutter altogether, and I think the previous owner modified his regular windshield seal to accept the chrome trim, and maybe cutting too deep.

Well mine was the windshield. Both sides. Looked like very little water coming to the inside but I think some was running somewhere else. This was a new gasket too. Wefilled the rubber with some kind of silcone Calvin (my body man) got from the windshield vendor. You can se it al all and it hasn't leaked since. What these guys are saying abou the cowl is true also. I haven't had that problem.
