can i put a cv joint on the rearshaft
i have a 72 chevy 4x4 but i am using a tcase out of an 80 blazer that has a slip yoke,can i put a constant velosity (like the front has) behind the yoke,will that work ok,my truck is lifted 6 inches and i just though that that would make a better angle for my driveline

Usually the rear is done by placing a wedge under the leaf pack.

I'm not sure how the dynamics of the slip yoke plays out, but I have a rear CV on my Jimmy but using a two piece shaft. I had to change the output yoke and other than that, bolted right on. With 4" springs in the rear, the length of the Jimmy shaft was just too short. Tom Woods build mine when he was with 6 States. Has his own shop now. You can rotate the housing up like Mudder says, but you wind up with a driveline that is out of phase. Angles on top and bottom should be same with a conventional driveshaft. Using the CV, you want zero degree angle on the axle (driveshaft inline with pinion) and all of the rest at trans. This works well with aftermarket springs that use a wedge to rotate axle housing to minimize binding. Honestly, with a truck the length of the shaft is sufficient you should be able to lower the back of the T-case and use wedges at the axle to correct driveshaft angle. Especially if it is a longbed truck.

Didn't think to say. My TC has been dropped for many years and I have a 4". I get the angle under the springs with the blocks. The blocks and the TC was done back in the early 80's when it was a 77 truck and done a lot of mudding. Someday...... I may get a different frame and at that time I may go to all springs lift.

My neighbor's ford has a cv joint at the rear of transfer case but the slip joint is in the driveshaft not tailshaft of the tc. The funny thing is his front does not have a CV joint, it's a 79 w/ a high pinion dana44 up front.

actually its a double cardan joint not a cv joint

That is what I had on my truck. I did the shimming and lowering of the t-case and could never get rid of the driveline vibes. So I went with a 1 ton CV and never had a problem again. I raised the t-case back to normal hieght and cut and welded the spring perches to obtain the correct pinion angle instead of useing shims. I run the slip yoke and it worked fine.

well i have a 6 inch lift w/ blocks in rear,and they are tapered,am i ok running a regular driveline,it only has about 1" of shaft sticking out of the t case,hope it works
