Rear Disc ?
This was on the board a while back and I printed it out at the time so I would have it. But naturally I lost it somewhere. What Years and model of Cadillac can we scavange the rotors and calipers from for our trucks? Appreciate help from someone better organized or with a better memory! Thanks Smitty!

77-79 Cadillac Seville are the easiest swap, cause the cars are rear wheel drive to begine with. The same age and up to 83 Riveria's, Toronados and 80 up(all fwd) Sevilles will work too, but you have to fab an backer plate. I remember I mailed you pictures of my diff and how it is setup a while back, lost those though I assume.

Can you tell any differance in the stopping with the rear disc.

I thought it would be alot better...but it isn't(for me).I run 33" tires so that prob. has something to do with it.Performance would prob. be better with tires that are closer to stock.My system doesn't seem to be dialed in right.There are guys who have 4 wheel disc's on our year truck who can stop on a dime.

does any machine work have to be done to the axles to make the rotors fit over the centering hub?

YES on the Cadillac conversion......the center hub and the outer flange (where the lugs go through) have to be turned down.
I can't say on the other conversions. here is a pic of the cadillac seville converson. |
