Yeah. You can get the cheap ones at any autoparts store for just a few bucks. They also make cat eye lights that work for this truck as well that are white lights with a blue ring like the BMWs. The conversion that he is talking about is probably the Euro Crystal Clear headlight that you can get from LMC trucks that is a halogen bulb you can get in Blue. It costs 30.00 for each light and the blue bulbs are 9 bucks each. as you can see it adds up but my friend is using them and they are pretty bright lights.
Also there are HELLA Vision plus lights 60/65 watters very bright for about 50 bucks each. Then there is a lucas tripod headlights between 140 and 200 bucks each. You can get all of these from lmc but not the cats eye lights. Personally I would go cheaper like the originals but the euro styl lights are still not that expensive and they are very bright lights. |

Or just make your headlight switch a relay controller.
Mount the relays on the core support. (2 relays @ $5/each) Use 8 or 10 gauge wire from the "on" side of the relay to each light ($5-$10) Use the normal headlights. ($8.99 at Wal*Mart) Your factory system is putting 10-11 volts to each headlight because it is running the current through 20+ feet of 16 gauge wire. With a relay set-up you can put 12-14 volts to each light. You won't believe the difference until you see it for yourself.

You can get a 9 dollar headlight from the parts store for something to fix the problem then look into ordering something as well I know they carry the cheap ones. They allways have the headlights for our trucks because they fit so many cars and trucks around those years.

If you want to convert to the H4, go to www.****************.com . He has a DOT approved conversion for $35. I have stuck with the round bulbs, buying them in halogens.

Here's a good thread on installing relays to power headlights with full battery voltage.
Any auto/4x4 accessory shop can probably order in Hella, Cebie, or other quality headlights. Among affordable headlights, I prefer Hella H4 European lens headlights. Not DOT legal, but a great lens, IMO. I would avoid LMC both for the prices and the fact that better stuff is available with knowledgeable customer service, like thru Rick's Pickup Parts. The LMC tele-sales people don't know anything that their computers don't tell them.

Has anyone seen the H4 (I think) headlights with the smaller blue or amber bulb inside the housing? I saw them a few weeks ago in a mag and can't find it again. I would like to use the secondary bulb as a turn signal, but need to find out who makes them so I can get a better look at them.

This came up before, but I don't think they make the conversion/helas for the GMC, quad bulb setup. They may now, but that is what I remember from the last time this came up. You may be stuck with old fashion style headlamps.

My local auto accessory store was able to find 4-headlight Hella H4 systems in both HellaVision and the European lens. The store would have to order them from Hella's USA point in Florida, IIRC. Does not include any relay system, of course.

Painless Performance has a relay kit. Below is the Painless site. Below that is the Painless kit through Summit, it is $77.95 and is designed to do 2 headlights.

I have the 80/100 watt superwhite h4 conversion with the plug and play Painless Wiring Kit in my 67 and love it. There are many choices out there for the H4 conversion. KC makes a halogen bulb that is 55 watt LO and 100 watt HI beam so you would be legal in LO beam for those who dont like the super white look. I higly recommend the wiring kit so you get the voltage you need at the lights.

Siliviana (sp) has a bulb called the silverstar. Looks like a H4 $ 30 cdn each from cnd tire. I have them in my 84 and dad just got a pair for his 73. Way clearer than halogen.
I like em.

Silerstars are nice but way overpriced. The toucans are only $19.95 for the pair and put out a lot more light. They are just as white as the Silverstars too.

Of course, Hella also offers the DOT legal HellaVision headlight assys with H4 bulbs. I think the HellaVision lenses are inferior to the H4 lenses.
