4L80E/NP205:Anyone done this?

I~m checking into this possibility before I commit to a 700r4 swap.I have a`91 3/4t Suburban with the 4L80E/NP241.It has a stand alone ECM for the trans since it is a mechanically injected 6.2 diesel. So electronically it would be possible.I`m not using this vehicle as the donor, just saying there is such a set-up.Street rodders are using the 4L80E,too.So,there`s a computer available. Is there an adapter for the NP205,though?The NP241 is the next best thing and could be found coupled with this transmission.I`m exploring right now.Any input appreciated.

Yep, it can be done, and as bgeraurd mentioned, it actually came stock on some of the crew cab trucks with the solid front axle

You need a stock TH400 adapter, for the "race track" style 205 with the 32s female input. The index ring on the adapter needs to be machined a few thousandths to fit the tranny and the output shaft needs to be changed to a full spline version out of a motorhome so it can be cut to length. I not really sure about the difference between the 2wd and 4wd versions of the 4L80E other than the 4wd version not using a tailshaft. But I was told to use the 2wd version. BTW I have an extra new adapter machined and ready to go. Shoot me a message if interested.
